Team and leadership development

Team development offers exciting opportunities to transform your team and gain competitive edge.

When you bring a group of people together to work on a task, you want two things - great results and the individuals working well with each other.

In our experience thPKTMP000.jpg Learning Solutions picture by Roger-Mayois doesn't happen by chance. So often, we find groups of people who have thought a lot about what needs to be done - but not so much about how they are going to do it.

As a result, conflict often arises, individuals blame each other, role confusion occurs and people's preferences easily become labelled as weaknesses. The group can easily start to break down at this stage. The group aspirations get superseded by individuals jockeying for position and raising individual profiles.

At MT&D we can help you prevent this. By working early on with a group, we can assist the smooth transition from group to team and help the leader build a team based on effective working principles and trust.

We welcome variety and diverse contributions and demonstrate the importance of different perspectives within the team. Appropriate team behaviour breeds appropriate behaviour within and outside the team.

Even if a group has appeared to have broken down in some way, we can still get it back on track - if the leader and others are prepared to step back, agree to change approaches and make a fresh start.

"Roger designed and delivered innovative teambuilding for the bruised survivors of a major restructuring programme in the Recycling group. [...] He combined deep professional skills and high energy with great human insights, always ensuring the learning experience was both hands on and fun. [...] his exercises were highly successful in bringing a group of individuals into a team!"

Trish Graham, Senior Manager at PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP

"The team build gave us:

  • Time to reflect and take stock as to where we were as a team
  • Time to address issues - team dynamics, roles and responsibilities, scope etc.
  • A better handle on what we want to deliver"

John Braganza, Process Change Manager, GSK

"Leadership and learning are indispensable to each other."

John F Kennedy 35th US President

"Teamwork is the ability to work together toward a common vision. The ability to direct individual accomplishments towards organisational objectives. It is the fuel that allows common people to achieve uncommon results."

Andrew Carnegie, Scottish-American entrepreneur
